As highlighted in the United Nations’ Preamble of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, among others, a child should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.
The Department of Social Development and Welfare continues to raise awareness of the rights of our children and advocate for their care and protection.
During the month of April, the spotlight was on child abuse, as we were all reminded to stand up for our children and that there’s no excuse for child abuse.
One of the month’s activities organized by the Department included a Balloon Release Ceremony, which was held on Friday, April 29th, 2022.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions was represented at the Ceremony by Mrs. Mickcal Williams-Lightbourne, Witness Support Officer.
