Introduction
CRIMINAL JUSTICE STAKEHOLDERS’ GROUP
The Criminal Justice Stakeholder’s Group, the first of its kind in the region, is a cross- organizational team of dedicated and enthusiastic members, who are committed to ensuring that there continues to be an effective and efficient criminal justice system for the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).
Under the leadership of the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Mabel Agyemang, the Criminal Justice Stakeholders’ Group has made significant strides in its very short existence. Very importantly, it has enabled members to identify their shared objectives. This has given rise to a 4- year Strategic and Action Plan which has received the approval of the TCIG. In this plan, the Criminal Justice Stakeholders’ Group has laid out a realistic ambition for a purpose built Court House, a digitized criminal justice system and a criminal justice legislative agenda that would do more to speed up the wheel of justice, protect and care for victims of crimes and their families, respect and safeguard the rights of offenders, and above all, secure public confidence in the administration of criminal justice in TCI.
